SEX COACHING SESSIONS
Have you thought about talking to someone who can help you with your sexuality? Have you heard of Sex Coaching sessions? Do you know what happens in a Sex Coaching session?
When sexuality is mentioned, the first thing most people think of is sex. However, sexuality goes far beyond just sex. Despite the fact that, according to statistics, sex is often problematic and certainly not very satisfying for many women and men, it tends to be limited to this subject alone. These types of issues are only overcome when a positive and comprehensive approach to the human being is applied. This happens when sexuality is addressed in an extensive manner that includes all aspects of the human experience. Only then does it make sense to study sexuality.
Sexuality encompasses all aspects of the human being, and in order for sexuality to be healthy, there must also be mental and physical health in balance.
Sex Coaching is one of the paths to overcome sexual challenges, difficulties, and problems. It grants permission, empowers, reframes negative messages, and provides accurate information. Sex Coaching sessions aim to foster dialogue, learning, clarification, and support regarding all matters related to sexuality, in an informed and non-judgmental way, so that the individual feels comfortable with their sexuality and can resolve any concerns in this area.
The Sex Coach
The training of a sex coach can vary greatly. In general, a sex coach has primary education in human sciences, such as psychology or medicine. They could also be a nurse or even a physiotherapist. This professional acts as a guide, helping the client to overcome their sexual blocks regarding what they think, feel, and do. In other words, the sex coach works with the client’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, opening up the possibility for them to experience a fluid sexual energy in whatever form they choose to express it.
How it Works
In Sex Coaching, the client is guided toward the results they want to achieve. Unlike traditional therapy, there is no long-term treatment. Specific models are applied, where the client is invited to try and experience new ideas, concepts, and situations in order to reach their goals.
Similar to coaching, Sex Coaching is focused on the present, with an eye toward the future. It is dynamic, and the coach plays an interactive role, with the process being fluid and collaborative between the coach and the client as they design an action plan.
The Sessions
Regardless of the reason someone seeks a Sex Coaching session, the structure of the session remains the same. Whether or not there is a specific concern, an evaluation of the client’s overall state is always conducted using a methodology that covers all aspects of their life. After this evaluation, and based on what led them to seek the session, an action plan is created to help them achieve their goals for the future, particularly regarding their sexuality.
From there, the content of the following sessions is always based on the plan designed to achieve the client’s goals, with proposed exercises, readings, explorations, and more. The plan is flexible and adjustable, and it can be modified if necessary or if the client’s objectives change.
Typically, between the first and the last session (or resolution of the issue, if that is the case), there are about 4 to 5 sessions. This does not mean there can’t be fewer or more sessions. These processes are intended to be quick and fluid. If during the sessions, it becomes clear that the person requires something deeper, the sex coach should refer them to a sexual therapist or psychotherapist.
Only if the sex coach is also a therapist can they provide therapy. Otherwise, at no point can the sex coach perform therapy, and the person should be referred to a qualified professional.
Some examples of concerns that lead someone to seek advice from a sex coach:
- Sexual education
- Sexual counseling
- Sexual inhibition
- Sexual desire
- Social skills
- Sexual fantasies
- Orgasm issues
- Sexual pain
- Lack of sexual interest
- Relationship issues
- Body image concerns
